Negai - Japan Shrine Visit Log & Goshuin Book. Send a Wish to Someone You Love

Coming soon

Pray for someone. Then let them know.

You visit a shrine and pray for your family's health, a friend's exam, or someone you love. But they never find out you were thinking of them.

Negai is a visit log for Japan's Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. Every visit you record on the grounds earns Wish Points, and you can send a link that says, "I visited this shrine for you."

Only real visits count

Find shrines and temples near you on a map and in a list. Negai shows those within 20 km of where you are, nearest first.

  • "Visit" unlocks once you are within 300 m of the shrine.
  • You can record one visit per shrine per day.

Because every record means you were really there, each visit carries weight.

Earn Wish Points

Each visit earns 10 Wish Points, or 15 when you add a wish for someone.

  • The Records tab shows your total and this month's points, plus how many shrines you have visited.
  • Track your progress across Japan's 47 prefectures and collect medals for shrines and prefectures visited.
  • See where you stand in the monthly and all-time rankings.

Wish Points are never sold. You cannot buy them — you can only earn them by visiting.

Send your wish as a link

When you visit, write who it is for and a short message, and Negai creates a wish link.

  • Tap "Send your wish" to share the link through any messaging app you already use.
  • The person you send it to can see which shrine you visited, when, your message, and your photos — no app needed.

Show a family member far away, or a friend facing a big exam, that you went and prayed for them.

Keep your photos and goshuin in one place

Add up to 4 photos and a note to each visit, and mark the photos of your goshuin (temple and shrine seals).

  • Goshuin photos are collected in the Goshuin book tab with the shrine name and date.
  • On each shrine's screen, you can see photos and notes from other visitors.

Learn about each shrine

Each shrine's screen shows its enshrined deities and history, with links to the sources. Even at a shrine you stumbled upon while traveling, you can learn its story on the spot.

Built to be safe

  • No email address or phone number required.
  • Choose "Share within Negai" or "Only me" for each post. Only posts you choose appear on the shrine website, and never with your name.
  • Where you were when you visited is never shown to others. Photos are stored with location and other EXIF data removed.
  • Posts are checked automatically to keep offensive content out. You can report posts and block other users.
  • No ads. No analytics or tracking.
  • You can delete your account and records at any time from Settings.

See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for details.

Note: Negai is not an official app of any shrine or temple. Shrine locations and names are from © OpenStreetMap contributors.
