Voice English Privacy Policy

Sho Fujimoto (hereinafter "Developer") establishes this Privacy Policy (hereinafter "Policy") regarding the handling of user personal information in Voice English (hereinafter "App").

Article 1 (Definition of Privacy Information)

"Personal Information" in privacy information refers to "personal information" as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act, meaning information about living individuals that can identify specific individuals through names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, contact information, or other descriptions contained in such information, as well as information that can identify individuals such as appearance, voice, and movements.

"History and Characteristic Information" in privacy information refers to information other than "Personal Information" defined above, including services used, learning history, search keywords, usage dates and times, usage methods, usage environment, gender, age, IP addresses, cookie information, location information, and device identification information.

Article 2 (Methods of Collecting Privacy Information)

  1. The Developer may acquire the following information when users use the App:

    • Voice input data (used only for speech recognition and pronunciation analysis, not stored)
    • Learning progress information (level, achievement rate, practice count, etc.)
    • Character relationship data (intimacy level, conversation history, etc.)
    • Usage statistics (for app improvement purposes)
    • Device information (device type, OS version, etc.)
    • Language settings and learning language selection
    • Advertising identifiers (IDFA, etc.)
  2. The Developer may automatically acquire the following information through user app usage:

    • App usage status
    • Error information
    • Grammar check results
    • Voice playback speed settings
    • Favorite situations
    • Time zone

Article 3 (Purposes of Collecting and Using Privacy Information)

The Developer collects and uses privacy information for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and operate the App
  2. To improve the quality of English learning services
  3. To record and analyze learning progress
  4. To respond to user inquiries
  5. To provide information about new features and updates
  6. For research and development to improve learning effectiveness
  7. To identify users who violate terms of service or attempt unauthorized use
  8. To allow users to view, change, or delete their registration information and usage status
  9. For advertising delivery and effectiveness measurement
  10. For purposes incidental to the above

Article 4 (Use of Generative AI)

  1. The App uses generative AI for English conversation generation, speech recognition, grammar checking, and pronunciation evaluation.
  2. User voice input is temporarily processed for speech recognition and pronunciation analysis but is not stored as recorded data.
  3. AI conversation content may be analyzed in anonymized form for service quality improvement.
  4. Text submitted for grammar checking is promptly deleted after analysis.
  5. Due to the nature of generative AI, it may generate inaccurate or inappropriate responses. We do not guarantee the accuracy of generated content.

Article 5 (Use of Third-Party Services and Information Collection Modules)

The App may use services and information collection modules provided by third parties for service provision, usage analysis, and advertising delivery. Please check each company's website for information acquired by these third parties, purposes of use, privacy policies, and opt-out methods.

  1. Google Play Services
  2. AdMob
  3. Google Gemini API
  4. LemonFox API
    • Purpose: Text-to-speech (TTS)
    • Privacy Policy: Please check the service provider's website
  5. DeepSeek API
    • Purpose: Grammar checking and explanations
    • Privacy Policy: Please check the service provider's website
  6. Expo

The Developer may periodically send only aggregated and anonymized data that cannot identify individuals to external services for the purpose of improving the App and services.

Article 6 (Third-Party Provision of Privacy Information)

  1. The Developer will not provide privacy information to third parties without obtaining user consent in advance, except in the following cases:

    • When required by law
    • When necessary to protect human life, body, or property and obtaining consent is difficult
    • When particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting healthy child development and obtaining consent is difficult
    • When necessary to cooperate with national or local government agencies or their delegates in executing legally prescribed duties and obtaining consent may hinder such execution
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the following cases shall not constitute third-party provision:

    • When the Developer outsources all or part of personal information handling within the scope necessary for achieving usage purposes
    • When personal information is provided due to business succession through merger or other reasons

Article 7 (Disclosure, Correction, and Suspension of Privacy Information)

  1. When requested by individuals to disclose personal information, the Developer will disclose it without delay. However, if disclosure falls under any of the following, all or part may not be disclosed, and users will be promptly notified of non-disclosure decisions:

    • Risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or third parties
    • Risk of significantly hindering proper implementation of the Developer's business
    • Violation of other laws
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, information other than personal information, such as history and characteristic information, will generally not be disclosed.

Article 8 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

  1. Users may request correction, addition, or deletion (hereinafter "Correction") of their personal information held by the Developer if it is incorrect, following procedures established by the Developer.
  2. Upon receiving such requests and determining the need to respond, the Developer will make corrections without delay.
  3. The Developer will promptly notify users when corrections are made or when decisions are made not to make corrections.

Article 9 (Opt-Out Rights)

Users can opt out of certain information collection through the following methods:

  • Limit ad tracking through device settings
  • Disable analytics data collection in app settings
  • Enable settings to refuse voice data analysis

Article 10 (Data Retention Policy)

  1. Voice data: Immediately deleted after speech recognition and pronunciation analysis
  2. Conversation history: Stored on local device until deleted by user
  3. Learning progress data: Retained during service usage period
  4. Grammar check data: Deleted within 24 hours after processing
  5. Analytics data: Retained in anonymized form for up to 2 years
  6. Advertising data: Collected and processed according to AdMob's data retention policy

Article 11 (Children's Privacy)

The App is not intended for children under 13 years old. We do not intentionally collect personal information from children under 13. If parents/guardians find that their children have provided personal information without parental consent, please contact the Developer.

Article 12 (Security Management of Privacy Information)

The Developer implements necessary and appropriate measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of collected information and ensure secure management. Specifically, we implement:

  • Data encryption
  • Access control implementation
  • Regular security audits
  • Information security training for employees

Article 13 (Changes to Privacy Policy)

  1. The content of this Policy may be changed without user notification, except for matters otherwise specified by law or in this Policy.
  2. Unless otherwise specified by the Developer, the revised Privacy Policy takes effect when posted on the App.
  3. Users will be notified via in-app notifications or email of significant changes.

Article 14 (Governing Law)

This Policy shall be governed by Japanese law.

Article 15 (Consent)

By using the App, users are deemed to have consented to this Privacy Policy.
