Privacy Policy
Sho Fujimoto (hereinafter referred to as "Developer") establishes this privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as "this Policy") regarding the handling of user information in the mobile application "SnapText" (hereinafter referred to as "this Application") provided by the Developer. This Application is provided as an ad-supported service with an optional monthly paid plan, and is intended for use "AS IS". This Policy aims to comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as the "APPI") and to appropriately protect users' privacy information.
Article 1 (Definition of Privacy Information)
In this Policy, "Privacy Information" refers to a combination of "Personal Information" and "Usage History and Characteristic Information."
- Personal Information: Refers to "personal information" as defined by the APPI. Specifically, it refers to information that can identify a specific individual, such as name, contact information (email address, phone number, etc.), account identifiers, and other descriptions.
- Usage History and Characteristic Information: Refers to information other than "Personal Information" above, collected when a user uses this Application. Specifically, this includes functions used, pages visited, date and time of visits, time spent on pages, time spent on this Application, input to the AI chat (including OCR-extracted text and user-typed question text; note that images and camera feed on the device are not transmitted to the Developer's servers), usage methods, usage environment (device OS, model, communication status, settings, etc.), IP address, cookie information, advertising identifiers (IDFA, AAID, etc.), unique device identifiers, and subscription purchase/cancellation status.
Article 2 (Method of Collecting Privacy Information)
The Developer may collect users' Privacy Information in the following ways:
- Information Provided by the User: When a user uses an inquiry form, etc., the user may be asked to provide personal information such as an email address. For subscription management, this Application may use account information provided by Apple Inc. or Google LLC.
- Automatic Collection through Application Use: For improving user convenience, service improvement, and displaying appropriate advertisements, Usage History and Characteristic Information related to the use of this Application (access logs, operation history, AI chat input, subscription purchase information, etc.) and usage environment information (device information, OS information, IP address, cookies, advertising identifiers) may be automatically collected.
- Camera Access: To provide the OCR (text recognition) function, this Application requests permission to access the user's device camera. Image data obtained from the camera is processed entirely on-device by the OCR engine (iOS: Apple Vision, Android: Google ML Kit). Camera feed and image data are never transmitted to the Developer's or third-party servers. Granting access permission is voluntary, but if refused, the OCR function cannot be used.
- Saved Images and OCR Results: When the user selects "Save," the captured image file and the OCR-extracted text are stored in the local storage of the user's device. This data exists only within the user's device and is not transmitted to or stored on the Developer's servers.
- AI Chat Input: When the user uses the AI chat function (explanations, summaries, translations, Q&A, etc. on OCR text), the OCR-extracted text and the user's question text are transmitted over the network for AI processing. See Article 4 for details.
- Subscription Information: Purchase information related to the monthly subscription of this Application is collected through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and through RevenueCat (provided by RevenueCat, Inc.), which is the subscription management platform. The Developer does not directly acquire or store users' credit card information or other payment information.
Article 3 (Purpose of Use of Privacy Information)
The Developer will use the collected Privacy Information for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, protect, and improve this Service (OCR function, noise removal, AI chat, etc.).
- To respond to inquiries from users.
- To provide important notices, necessary notifications, and marketing promotions related to this Application.
- To respond to acts violating the terms of use and to prevent fraudulent use.
- For analysis of the usage status of this Service, creation of statistical data, service improvement, and new service development.
- (When involving camera access) To provide the OCR function.
- To provide the AI chat function and generate responses.
- To provide and manage the subscription service, including purchase/cancellation status and related notifications.
- For the delivery of advertisements and measurement of their effectiveness (information collected may be analyzed to select and display advertisements presumed to be of higher interest to the user). Note that advertisements are not displayed to subscribers.
- For purposes incidental to the above purposes of use.
Article 4 (Regarding Use of Generative AI)
This Application uses generative AI technology provided by third parties (hereinafter referred to as "AI Service Providers") for generating responses to OCR text (explanations, summaries, translations, Q&A, etc.).
- Information Processed: When a user uses the AI chat function, the OCR-extracted text and question text are transmitted via the Developer's backend servers (Cloudflare Workers) to the AI Service Provider's servers for response generation.
- Data Storage: The Developer does not persistently store text exchanged in AI chat on the backend servers. Chat history stored on the user's device remains there until the user explicitly deletes it.
- Image Data: OCR processing is completed entirely on-device, so captured images themselves are never transmitted to the AI Service Provider or the Developer's servers.
- Third-Party Handling: Regarding how transmitted information is handled by the AI Service Providers, please check the privacy policies of said AI Service Providers. The names of AI Service Providers and links to their current privacy policies will be separately posted within the Application or on the Developer's website.
Article 5 (Use of Third-Party Services and Information Collection Modules)
This Application may use services and information collection modules provided by the following third parties for service provision, usage analysis, advertisement delivery, subscription management, etc. For information acquired by these third parties, their purposes of use, privacy policies, and opt-out methods, please check the websites of each company.
