English Root Words Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") set forth the conditions for using the smartphone application "English Root Words" (the "App") provided by Sho Fujimoto (the "Developer"). By using the App, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.

1. About the App

The App is a vocabulary learning app that helps users write English words, generate root-based explanations, save words to a wordbook, play word and example audio, and review saved words through flashcards and memory checks.

Root explanations, meanings, examples, review suggestions, audio-related features, and other content shown in the App may be generated or assisted by AI. They are provided for learning support only and do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or suitability for any particular purpose.

2. Eligibility

You use the App at your own responsibility. The App may not be used by children under 13. If you are a minor, you may use the App only with consent and supervision from a parent or guardian.

3. Free Features and Advertising

The App can be used for free with certain limits. The free plan may include limits such as a daily root-generation limit, a maximum number of saved words, device-standard audio only, preset review timing only, and advertisements.

The App may display advertisements through services such as Google AdMob. Advertising identifiers, device information, and related information may be used for ad delivery, ad measurement, personalized ads, and fraud prevention. Subscribing to the Pro plan described below removes interstitial advertisements from the App.

4. Subscription

Plan Details

The App offers the following auto-renewable subscriptions:

The prices above are base prices in Japan. Displayed prices may vary by region, currency, taxes, and store fees. The exact price at the time of purchase is shown on the in-app purchase screen.

Pro may include benefits such as more root generation, unlimited wordbook storage, no interstitial advertisements, high-quality AI voice features, custom review timing, and other features shown in the App.

Payment

1. Payment will be charged to your App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) account at confirmation of purchase.
2. A free trial period may be offered. If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial period, the subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription.
3. The subscription automatically renews under the same terms unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
4. The renewal fee will be charged to your account within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

How to Cancel

• iOS: Go to Settings -> Apple ID -> Subscriptions.
• Android: Go to the Google Play app -> Payments & subscriptions -> Subscriptions.

Cancellation cannot be performed by contacting the Developer directly. After cancellation, you can continue to use Pro features until the end of the current billing period.

Restoring Purchases

If your purchase information no longer appears in the App due to a device change, reinstallation, or similar reason, you can restore previous purchases by tapping "Restore Purchases" on the paywall screen or in the in-app settings screen. To restore purchases, you must sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account used for the original purchase.

Changes to Pricing or Plan Content

The Developer may change pricing, plan content, usage limits, and other benefits as needed. If pricing is increased or terms are changed in a way that is unfavorable to users, the Developer will notify users in advance through the store, App, website, or other appropriate method where required.

Refund Policy

The Developer will not refund any usage fees already paid, for any reason whatsoever, unless otherwise stipulated by law. For refund requests, please contact Apple App Store or Google Play support.

5. AI-Generated Content and Learning Accuracy

Some explanations, examples, root analysis, translations, and other learning content may be generated by AI. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, unnatural, outdated, or different from what you intended.

The App is a learning aid. You must not rely on the App as the sole source for important educational, legal, medical, financial, immigration, professional, or other high-stakes decisions.

The Developer does not guarantee vocabulary accuracy, etymology accuracy, pronunciation accuracy, review effectiveness, or any learning outcome.

6. User Input and Saved Data

You are responsible for the words, text, files, settings, and other content you enter into the App. You must not enter or submit:

• Personal or confidential information such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, passwords, or payment information
• Personal information of third parties or content that violates another person's privacy
• Content that violates laws or public order and morals
• Defamation, threats, harassment, or discriminatory expressions
• Content that encourages crime, self-harm, or dangerous acts
• Content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other rights of third parties

Saved words, review history, settings, imported files, and generated learning data are primarily stored on your device. Such data may be lost due to App deletion, device failure, operating system behavior, updates, or other circumstances.

The Developer does not guarantee the integrity, recoverability, or continued availability of saved data.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You must not engage in any of the following conduct:

• Violating laws, these Terms, or platform terms
• Placing excessive load on the App, servers, networks, or third-party services
• Unauthorized access, modification, reverse engineering, analysis, scraping, cheating, or bot use
• Exploiting bugs or vulnerabilities in the App
• Interfering with App operation, advertising, subscription management, AI generation, or audio generation processes
• Copying, reposting, selling, distributing, or modifying App content without permission
• Using the App to generate or distribute illegal, harmful, or rights-infringing content
• Any other conduct the Developer deems inappropriate

8. Intellectual Property

Copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights related to the App belong to the Developer or their respective rights holders.

You may use the App for personal, non-commercial learning purposes only. You may not copy, repost, sell, distribute, modify, or otherwise reuse App content, text, programs, designs, or data without permission from the Developer, except for your own saved word list exported through the App.

9. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services for AI generation, advertising, analytics, subscription management, payments, cloud infrastructure, logging, security, and related purposes. Use of such third-party services may be subject to the terms and privacy policies of those providers.

The Developer is not responsible for the content, availability, changes, suspension, failures, or information handling practices of third-party services.

10. Disclaimer

The Developer does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, usefulness, fitness for a particular purpose, continued availability, or error-free operation of the App.

Except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence by the Developer, the Developer is not responsible for damages, data loss, device issues, learning disadvantages, disputes with third parties, or problems arising from the use of AI-generated content in connection with the App.

11. Changes, Suspension, and Termination

The Developer may change, suspend, or terminate the App's content, features, specifications, method of provision, supported operating systems, advertising, AI models, audio models, or third-party services without prior notice.

12. Changes to These Terms

The Developer may update these Terms as necessary. Updated Terms become effective when posted or announced through the App, website, or other appropriate methods.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising in connection with the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Japanese court that has jurisdiction over the Developer's location as the court of first instance.
