AI Teacher Privacy Policy

AI Teacher (the "App") is a study app provided by Sho Fujimoto (the "Developer"). The App uses AI to read photos of textbooks, worksheets, notes and similar materials, or text you type in, and then explains them at the difficulty you choose and creates practice questions.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the App.

This Privacy Policy applies to the following app:

The App has no account registration or sign-in.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you enter or select

• Images you take with the camera or choose from your photo library (such as textbook pages, worksheets, notes and screenshots)
• Text you type in and follow-up questions you ask
• Settings such as the difficulty and the question style (multiple choice or explanation)
• Names of your books and quiz books

1.2 Information generated through use

• Explanations, practice questions and answers to follow-up questions generated by AI
• History of explanations and questions, and the books and quiz books you save
• Study records such as "read" and "memorized"
• Your daily usage count, the extra uses added by watching ads, and your total usage count

The settings in 1.1 and the information in 1.2 are stored on your device. They may be lost if you delete the App, reset or change your device, or because of OS behavior. Section 3 describes which images and text are sent to the server.

1.3 Information collected automatically

• Device type, OS and OS version, and App version
• Device language setting
• RevenueCat anonymous user ID
• Advertising identifiers such as the IDFA (iOS) and the Advertising ID (Android)
• Information about ads shown and watched
• Technical information such as access logs and IP addresses

1.4 Purchase information

Subscriptions (VIP Plan) are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The Developer uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) to process and manage purchases, and the following information is handled:

• Subscription status, purchased products and expiration dates
• Receipts and transaction IDs issued by the store
• RevenueCat anonymous user ID

The Developer does not collect or store payment information such as credit card numbers, bank accounts or store account passwords.

2. How We Use Information

• To provide the App's features, such as reading text in images and generating explanations, practice questions and answers
• To save your history, books, quiz books and study records
• To provide subscriptions, check subscription status and restore purchases
• To manage your daily usage count
• To deliver ads, measure ad performance and prevent fraud
• To respond to reports of inappropriate AI-generated content and keep the App safe
• To investigate and fix problems and keep the service running reliably
• To comply with laws, the App's Terms of Service and platform policies

3. How AI Features Handle Information

To create explanations and practice questions, the App sends the following information to the Developer's server, and the server sends it on to AI service providers:

• Images: The images you choose are uploaded to the Developer's server (Cloudflare R2). To read the text in them, the images are sent to OpenAI. Before that, they are checked with OpenAI's content moderation.
• Text: The text read from your images or typed in, the difficulty and question style you chose, and your device language. Explanations and practice questions are mainly generated with DeepSeek; if DeepSeek does not respond, OpenAI is used instead. Text sent to OpenAI is checked with content moderation first.
• Follow-up questions: The text of your question, the conversation so far and the original text.

Uploaded images are stored on the server (Cloudflare R2) so that their text can be read. The Developer does not store the recognized text, generated explanations or follow-up conversations on the server. However, access logs and error logs may be recorded temporarily for troubleshooting and security.

When you tap the "Report" button on an explanation screen, the Developer's server (Cloudflare) records that a report was made (the app name and the date and time). The images, text and explanation are not sent with the report.

Please do not include personally identifiable or sensitive information in your images or text, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, student ID numbers, photos of faces, passwords, payment information or health information.

4. Advertising and Tracking

The App uses Google AdMob to show rewarded ads (video ads that give you extra uses when watched). AdMob may collect and use advertising identifiers, device information, IP addresses and information about ads shown and watched to deliver, measure and personalize ads and to prevent fraud. While you are subscribed to the VIP Plan, the App does not load ads.

On iOS, the IDFA is used for tracking across apps and websites only if you allow it through App Tracking Transparency (ATT). You can use every feature of the App without allowing it, but ads may be less relevant. You can also manage ad personalization in your device settings or Google account settings.

Users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK and Switzerland

In these regions, before ads are delivered, the App shows a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) and asks for your consent to personalized ads. If you do not consent, non-personalized ads are shown. To deliver and measure ads, advertising identifiers, IP addresses and device information may be shared with third parties registered on the IAB TCF vendor list (such as ad networks and ad tech companies).

Under the GDPR / UK GDPR, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. To change or withdraw your consent, please contact us using the details in Section 12.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services. Each service handles information in accordance with its own privacy policy.

6. Transfers to Third Parties in Other Countries

Because the App uses the third-party services in Section 5, information may be sent to, processed in and stored in countries outside Japan, mainly the United States, and the People's Republic of China for generating explanations and practice questions.

You can find information about each country's personal information protection system on the website of Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission (https://www.ppc.go.jp/personalinfo/legal/kaiseihogohou/#gaikoku ). The People's Republic of China has a personal information protection law, but its system differs from Japan's in some respects; for example, the law may allow government agencies to access information. Please do not include personally identifiable information in your images or text.

7. Disclosure to Third Parties

The Developer does not sell your information. We do not provide it to third parties except in the following cases:

• With your consent
• When we entrust processing to the service providers in Section 5 to the extent necessary to provide the App
• When required by law
• When necessary to protect a person's life, body or property
• In connection with a transfer of the business

8. Retention

Data on your device remains until you delete it in the App, delete the App, or it is deleted by your device or OS. Information processed on the server (including uploaded images) is kept only as long as necessary for the purposes in this Policy and is then deleted or anonymized, except where longer retention is needed for legal compliance, security or fraud investigation.

9. Minors

If you are a minor, please use the App with the consent of a parent or guardian. Children under 13 should use the App under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Please do not include the names or photos of yourself, your family or your friends in images or text.

10. Your Choices and Rights

• Camera and photo access: You can change this at any time in your device settings. If you do not allow access, you cannot load images that way.
• Advertising identifiers and tracking: You can manage these in your device settings ("Tracking" on iOS, "Advertising ID" on Android).
• Data on your device: Deleting the App erases it.
• Requests for disclosure, correction, suspension of use, deletion and so on: Please contact us using the details in Section 12, including requests to delete uploaded images. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

11. Security and Changes to This Policy

The Developer takes reasonable security measures to prevent leakage, loss of and unauthorized access to information.

We may revise this Policy in response to changes in laws, the App's features or third-party services. We will announce important changes in the App or on our website.
